A Slice of Heaven (Part 2) - Beer Bread & Buns

For Part 2 in this  series   I decided to indulge into two other favorite bread recipes, that's is not just dynamic, but delicious and wholesome.  Beer bread and Buns.  In recent times it has been difficult to bake beer bread, and I don’t like to mention Covid 19 (hold my beer), but we were unable to purchase any alcohol as the government imposed an alcohol ban in our country.  This in turn inhibited me to bake or create anything that contained alcohol, especially our family favorite - beer bread.   Banned? The ban was lifted then imposed then lifted, then imposed again,  so when we had the chance to buy any beer (and there weren’t many - I am an Essential Worker), we had to jump to the opportunity. This meant that standing in a long queue with short frustrations was the new normal.   A slice of  Heaven Alas! I was able to get the ingredients for my recipe and then I created a slice of heaven.   That first slice was heaven, topped with melted golden butter delight.  A bliss to the

Santa, all I want for Christmas!

Christmas; the time for family, fun and eating way to much food. We get to the markets & shops; "to-do" lists in my hand and I am ready to conquer this day, or am I? People are dashing around to get the last of their shopping done. We race to get every last thing ready for the big day, and of course I left the shopping for the last minute.  I try to figure out what gifts to get everyone, and coming from a large family, my mind jumps to so many options.

Art & Love

Naturally, with my artistic abilities, I had to make something for my family, and I think one appreciates handmade gifts much more.  (Because growing up in a big family, I had to improvise). From an early age I delved into crafting things, and Christmas times were the best time for my creative juices to flow.  My grandmother always say that making something for someone is worth so much more, because as you make the gift, you have the intended person in mind.  Giving it to them fills the heart with a tremendous amount of joy, as they know that it was made with love.

Battle of the Xmas Moms

The past year was such a fast year, and in a blink of an eye, it was silly season.  I refer to December holidays as the silly season.  The reason being is that everything starts to speed up and people start acting silly.  The supermarkets are full of people dashing around to get that last minute buys in,  I often found myself "fighting" a mom grabbing the last gammon or last bit of wrapping paper.  Imagine yourself in a scene of "A Bad mom's Christmas" battling to get everything perfect.

Boney M, excitment & Gifts!

But this time of the year would not be jolly without trees being decorated, stockings being filled and Boney M softly playing in the background.  I always have a sense of joy around this time of the year. As the time gets closer to hand out gifts, we all become excited as little kiddies again.  Generally we have a family gathering, where we have wonderful food prepared, enjoy the holiday company and (im)patiently waiting for the clock to tick to 25 December... Midnight is upon us, and we give thanks, wishing each other a wonderful and blessed Christmas, and then starting to hand out the gifts.

This year we decided to include the following home made gifts:
