A Slice of Heaven (Part 2) - Beer Bread & Buns

For Part 2 in this  series   I decided to indulge into two other favorite bread recipes, that's is not just dynamic, but delicious and wholesome.  Beer bread and Buns.  In recent times it has been difficult to bake beer bread, and I don’t like to mention Covid 19 (hold my beer), but we were unable to purchase any alcohol as the government imposed an alcohol ban in our country.  This in turn inhibited me to bake or create anything that contained alcohol, especially our family favorite - beer bread.   Banned? The ban was lifted then imposed then lifted, then imposed again,  so when we had the chance to buy any beer (and there weren’t many - I am an Essential Worker), we had to jump to the opportunity. This meant that standing in a long queue with short frustrations was the new normal.   A slice of  Heaven Alas! I was able to get the ingredients for my recipe and then I created a slice of heaven.   That first slice was heaven, topped with melted golden butter delight.  A bliss to the

Work Eat Sleep, Repeat...

These days we live in a very fast paced life, work eat sleep, repeat.  And we don't really get the time to cook food, ending up with take out!  As wonderful as this may seem, it tends to get tedious at times (and not to mention boring!).  I start my day off with a fresh cup of coffee, as do most, and most of the times seem to skip breakfast. (Yeah i know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day , blah blah blah....) I can't seem to get my morning kickstart with a meal, and rather opt in for the Caffeine.

I rush in the mornings to get ready for work, do I have the Car Keys, Where is my Phone, are the Cats fed??  Jump into the Car, and off to work I go.  When I find myself, I'm driving home from work after a long day, and end up thinking, "Whats for Dinner?"  Let's face it, we live for the weekends, wishing the week away. Our lives washing away in front of us.  We tend to neglect our meals, just rushing everything by.  We work, we Eat and we Sleep.  Guess what? tomorrow we do it all over again!

From time to time, I have to remind myself to breath and take everything in.  So, we try to make time for cooking, and we really love quick and easy meals.  Sometime ago, we discovered we love steak, and the many ways one can prepare it.  One day , the Hawaiian Steak was born!  This is quick and easy to make, and really satisfying.

Hawaiian Steak with Cheddamelt Sauce   (Serves 2 - 4)

1 Tablespoon Maziena
1/2 cups Milk
2 cups Cheese (Cheddar)
1 punnet Mushrooms
Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Method:
Braze sliced  mushrooms in butter, add salt and pepper. Place butter in a saucepan and simmer until melted, then add Maziena and braze for a few minutes. Add Milk and once the sauce thickens, add the Mushrooms.  Let cook for a few minutes, then add cheese, letting it melt slowly.
Set aside while cooking the Steak.

3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil

French Loaf with any filling (Mix Cream Cheese, Garlic & grated Cheese and fill the French Loaf)

Fill the French Loaf with Filling, and pop it into the oven at 180'C. DON'T FORGET THE LOAF!

Method:
In a Grill pan, heat the oil.
Season the Steak before frying it.
Add the Rosemary to the pan.
Once the oil is hot, add the Steak to the pan, cooking it for 2-3 minutes per side (this will yield a medium rare steak).
Place the Steak in an oven dish.
Add the Pineapple rings on top of the Steak.
Pour the Cheddamelt Sauce over the Steak.
Grate the cheese and sprinkle over this
.
Set the oven on grill and place the dish in the oven and grill for 7-10 min, or until cheese is golden brown.
Serve with French Loaf.
